Dragon Lover's and Wings of Fire Gift Guide for Kids, Teens, and Adults

For those young learners in your house if you are like us at home, especially in the age of coronavirus and virtual learning you are looking for something that keeps your child engaged and learning at the same time. What do you get for the person who has immersed themselves in the world of dragons?

Here we have given a breakdown of some great gift ideas that will help them show off their love of dragons or help you use their love of dragons to inspire other learning.

  • Young learners 5-8

  • Late Elementary-Middle school Aged 8-13

  • Teens 13-18

  • Adults

The Osmo Math Wizard and The Secrets of the Dragons Magical Workshop for iPad and Tablet Bundle do just that. It has a 5 star rating and is a great way to inspire math learning that is self paced. The parental controls allow you to adjust the difficulty and no Wi-fi is needed for game play. You will need an iPad or Fire tablet, but if you are looking for an inspiring curriculum that allows you the free time to complete your work at the same time, then this is it. It does not include a base for the iPad or fire tablet, so you will need to get the one matching your device.

Here are the bases for the iPad and Fire that will be needed if you do not already have them.

Wings of Fire Graphic Novel #4 The Dark secret

This wouldn’t be a proper Wings of Fire and dragons site if we didn’t recommend the new Graphic novel taking us on the journey to the Nightwing kingdom. The content and Lexile score of the typical Wings of Fire Graphic novel is GN320L, so those younger learners might need help reading. However, if you are like our family then you won’t mind one bit and might find yourself reading ahead

Here is a teaser description from the Amazon website:

In the shadows, trouble is brewing . . .

When Starflight is stolen by his own tribe, he hopes to at least discover some of the long-held NightWing secrets -- what magical powers they really have, who they're allied with in the war, and where they've been living all this time.

But the truth about Starflight's tribe is more terrible than he ever imagined: Not only do the NightWings live in a dark, miserable place, but they've imprisoned several innocent RainWings there, too. Stranded and alone, Starflight only wants to get back to his friends. But the fate of two kingdoms now rests in his talons, and with no one to save him, Starflight will have to find a way to be brave . . . before it's too late

Melissa & Doug Winged Dragon Giant Plush

This thing is realistic and huge. It is nearly 3ft tall and looks awesome with those wings and scale design. This is an incredible dragon. It has glitter wings, winyl talons, green and black scales, plush teeth and a forked tongue. It is not meant to sit on or ride, but big and cuddly all the same.

Older Elementary / Middle School Ages 9-13

Wings of Fire Blanket

This blanket looks super soft and comfy along with some great artwork. There are a few blankets out there, but this was our favorite design with the hood and then the artwork is incredible with all the Dragonets of Destiny (Glory, Tsunami, Starflight, Clay, Sunny and even Jambu and others included). There are three different sizes, so this gift could work for all age fans. It is made of microfiber and so it is hypoallergenic.

Jimu Dragon Coding Robot

This is a dragon building kit that will teach your kids to code as well. They will be using blockly code and can customize the wings and led light in the dragon’s mouth. There are all sorts of cool actions you can create. This is the coolest toy we have seen this year. It includes a free app that has the building instructions and coding app. This is a great way to get your kid used to using 3d diagrams, coding and all sorts of other STEM skills. There are 606 pieces to the kit and will keep your child engaged for a long time with all the things it can do, it even has wheels to allow it to roll around. It is easily worth the $99 price tag.

You can check out a video commercial of it here.

Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Begins Cooperative Fantasy Board Game

This is the perfect entry level experience to get into the world of role playing games and critical thinking skills that games like Dungeons and Dragons develop in the players. It is designed for two to four players and says it is for ages 10 and up. Each time you get to choose which board or journey and then which boss you will fight in the end in the land of Neverwinter. The four bosses are Felbris the Beholder, Orn the Fire Giant, DeathSleep the Green Dragon, and the Kraken. It also includes 4 plastic mini figures. If you want to upgrade the game you can purchase the new mini figure set that includes the red dragon. You can customize your characters and heroes. This is a great way to get into this world or have those adventures without having to spend hours upon hours to complete an adventure.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition

Yes, we know that Baldur’s Gate 3 was released in October. However, we do not feel comfortable recommending that to this age range because of the rating and warnings of partial nudity and content that would need to be reviewed by each parent to feel their comfort level.

The edition we are suggesting is a throwback to the isometric pc rpg games of the late 90’s. It is based on core dungeons and dragon rules. There is a story mode that makes the gameplay a little easier to get the hang of it. It does have three games in one providing a nice value. It has a teen rating meaning it is typically suitable for those 13 and up.

Here is is the game description from Amazon

  • Contains Enhanced Editions of Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, & Siege of Dragonspear

  • Baldur's Gate - Since its original release in 1998, Baldur's Gate has set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer role playing games.

  • Baldur's Gate II - Continue a journey started in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition or create an entirely new character in this isometric Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game.

  • Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear - Adds a new chapter to the Bhaalspawn saga. The events occurring between Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II are at last revealed in this 25-hour adventure.

Adult Dragon lovers:

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

This game has won over 200 awards and includes all the addons like Dawngaurd, Heathfire, and the aforementioned Dragonborn. It also includes all of the extra mods made for the PC. It has a PS4, Xbox, and Switch version. Enjoy and do yourself a favor and check out this intense trailer for the Dragonborn addon.

Dragon Bookends with Pen and Pencil Holder

These bookends are multi purpose. They look great with that brick washed look guarding a castle. They are 6 inches tall and about 4.5 to 5 inches on the sides. The reviews say they seem sturdy and it has a 4.8 rating out of 73 ratings. The weight of a little over 2 pounds each should help your books stay in place and provide a nice storage space.

I’m done Adulting Let’s be Dragons Coffee Mug

I mean who wouldn’t want to soar the sky and be able to leave their responsibilities for a while. Let them enjoy their coffee or tea...or who knows maybe even wine in this adorable mug.

Bonus: If you haven't read the series yet then what are you waiting for!

Have fun giving as we all know that joy we see when we get that right gift is worth it all!
